I've been ill with bronchitis for the better part of two weeks, and for much of that time I haven't been able to check the mailbox. But today, though still regularly barking like a seal, I felt well enough to venture forth.
And lo! I was well rewarded for the trouble. Dorian has been visiting Vorbarr Sultana, the grand capital city of Barrayar.
Here's what Dorian has to say about her visit:
"Greetings from Vorbarr Sultana!
I wanted to send a card of the ImpSec HQ (it really is as ugly as they say!) but I couldn't find one. :( I hope you like this one of the city centre instead -- quite an architectural jumble, isn't it.
We went to see Vorhartung Castle yesterday; the Council of Counts isn't in session yet so we could take the tour. VERY impressive! Didn't see anyone famous though.
We're going shopping in the Caravanserai this afternoon, so I better stop here."
Thank you so much for writing, Dorian! (And be careful in the Caravanserai; I hear it still has some sketchy bits...)
How's this place work?
If you could take a little mental holiday and go to any imaginary place, where would you go?
And what would you do while you were there?
Send me a postcard, handmade or otherwise, from an imaginary location. It can be a place from a book or a movie or a piece of music, or some other world you made up. On the other side, write and tell me what you've been doing on your vacation from reality.
All postcards to be addressed to:
Soozcat
Wish I Were Here
6975 Aegean Blvd. NE
Bremerton, WA 98311
United States
I'll scan a selection of postcards and post them to the blog for all and sundry to enjoy.
